About
Welcome to the official documentation for SidewaysData, a combined registration and live timing platform designed specifically for motorsports events.
What is SidewaysData?
SidewaysData helps motorsports organizers run their events by taking the pain away from moving data around between registration, timing, marketing & communication systems.
It was originally created by a competitor on the U.S. West Coast to improve the accuracy of timing our events and quickly spread as we expanded the platform to fit each organizer's setup.
- Event Registration: Create and manage events, handle registrations, process payments, and organize competitors
- Timing & Scoring: Capture accurate timing data, manage penalties, and calculate results based on class/category, and results archival.
- Grid Management: Queue competitors efficiently with QR code scanning and real-time updates
- Communications: Send automatic notifications, updates, and results to competitors
- Data Analytics: Track participation trends, analyze performance, and generate reports
- Offline Capability: Run events without internet access with full sync capabilities
Key Components
SidewaysData consists of several integrated components:
- Registration Site - The SidewaysData.com site which allows competitors to find events, results, and register.
- Web Admin Platform - Comprehensive web application for managing events.
- Desktop Timing Application - Robust desktop software with offline support for connecting with timing hardware and managing live timing operations
- Worker Mobile App - Progressive Web App (PWA) for grid workers to scan QR codes and queue cars efficiently
- Timing Hardware - Our own timing hardware that can integrate with the system (other systems are supported as well, with FarmTek, JACircuits, RaceAmerica, and Microgate in active use).
- (Advanced) API Integration - Connect with other systems and extend functionality
Getting Started
Review each of the categories in the top navigation to find what you're looking for. If you're looking to start listing events, fill out the form here. This is generally reviewed within 24 hours. Organizers require manual approval and sometimes a phone call to list events to prevent spam, and so we can understand each organizer's setup to ensure it's successful.
If it moves we'll time it.
